You can respond to a small claim in one of three ways:
✔️ Admit the claim – Pay the amount requested, possibly in instalments.
✔️ Defend the claim – Challenge the claim with evidence (must submit a defence statement).
✔️ Make a counterclaim – If the claimant also owes you money, you can counterclaim against them.
How to submit your response:

• By post using the N9 response form
You must respond within 14 days or request an extension (up to 28 days).
